Up to 86% time saving without wet pre-treatment

The MA-3000 is a global standard model of our thermal decomposition mercury measuring equipment that was developed in response to customer’s needs for equipment usable without “special knowledge” or “troublesome wet pretreatment.”
Without wet pretreatment using acids or alkalis, samples such as waste, soil, coal, and foods are directly, simply and quickly measured. Compared to the usual wet pretreatment-mercury measurement, the required time can be shortened by up to 86%.

The sample undergoes thermal decomposition treatment under pre-set conditions and mercury is atomized, then mercury alone is concentrated in a special mercury collector tube as gold amalgam.

Interferences not necessary for measurement are almost completely removed by the removal mechanism such as the combustion tube.

Afterwards, the mercury collector tube is re-heated, and vaporized mercury is measured by atomic absorption spectroscopy.


Adoption of newly developed technology

  • By the delicate temperature control inside the combustion path, cross-contamination to next samples is reduced.
  • By using a new optical system, this model can measure from low to high concentrations (up to 70,000 ng)
  • Measurement is possible without using reagents such as additives

Simple operation, no high analysis knowledge is required

The analyzing operation is very simple, and no advanced analyzing knowledge is required. You just have to weigh the solid or liquid sample in the ceramic sample boat, set the boat in the main body, and then select the thermal decomposition conditions.

Thermal decomposition conditions are most important in the measurement, which are registered for each sample name based on our extensive application experience.

Abundant Options

We also have a variety of options. A single unit can be usable in various applications, such as the “reducing-vaporization-atomic absorption measurement,” which is the measurement method adopted in Japan; and the “gold amalgam collecting, heat-vaporization, and cold-vapor atomic absorption spectroscopy,” which is in accordance with the mercury measurement method in ambient air established by the Ministry of the Environment.
